Praying Our Goodbyes:

On Wednesdays at 5:00 PM in the Memorial Room Pastor Shelly will begin a new small group gathered around the ideas and movement of Joyce Rupp’s work, Praying Our Goodbyes: A Spiritual Companion Through Life’s Losses and Sorrows. From the book’s back cover: Everyone has unique goodbyes—a time of losing someone or something that has given life meaning and value. With the touch of a poet, Rupp offers her wisdom on “these experiences of leaving behind and moving on, the stories of union and separation that are written in all our hearts.” Books are available for purchase for $15 in the church office.

Contemporary Worship Experience Coming Soon

Contemporary Worship on the third Sunday of each summer month at 10:15 a.m. June 20, July 18, and August 15.

Your Worship Committee is just beginning to plan three intentional experiences of contemporary worship this summer. Our musical offerings, congregational singing, and instrumental accompaniment will be noticeably different and less traditional. If you are interested in helping plan, contribute to, or participate in these worship experiences in any way please speak with Pastor Shelly, Bill Bloom, or our Worship Coordinator, Ruth Hartman.

New Small Group Ministries beginning in the fall

United Christian Church is embarking on a new ministry of small groups beginning in the fall of 2010. While several small groups already meet on a regular basis for sharing and faith nurturing, this is an opportunity for more members of the congregation and their friends to have this unique experience. The groups will be led by trained facilitators from the congregation and will meet every other week in homes, at the church, or in a favorite local hangout. We plan to study of the "Fruit of the Spirit" listed in Galatians 5: 22-23, which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. We will get to know those in our group by sharing joys and challenges, studying scripture together, and talking about each "fruit" or quality of the Holy Spirit as we experience it or seek to develop it(!) in our lives. Prayer will also be a part of each small group gathering. Small groups provide an anchor of belonging to a handful of people, a regular time for spiritual reflection and discussion, and a consistent way to deepen one's relationship with God. Other small group ministries will be added as well. All are welcome, including those brand new to United Christian Church.
