About our Pastor, The Rev. Shelly Davis Rev. Shelly Davis is an ordained clergywoman in the United Church of Christ with dual ministerial standing in the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. Pastor Shelly has lived out her call to ministry in a number of ways since she was a young girl. Shelly has worked in community ministry on the south side of Chicago, pastored a small church in rural Iowa, served on the counseling and kitchen staffs of a church camp, worked in ecumenical, multi-generational community ministry in Dayton, Ohio, served as a campus chaplain intern at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and interned in hospital chaplaincy in Chicago. Shelly earned a Master of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, in 1989 and completed additional master’s level courses at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities and Union Theological Seminary in New York. Starting in high school, Shelly’s Christian faith has propelled her keen interest and frequent involvement in issues and movements for peace and justice. She has helped educate conscientious objectors, promoted nuclear disarmament, worked with inner-city children, youth and senior citizens, cooked and served meals for homeless people, fostered reconciliation with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender folk, and joined work crews rebuilding hurricane-damaged homes. After spending the first two decades of her life in her home state of Iowa, Shelly’s education and career choices have taken her to nine more states: Ohio, Oregon, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Minnesota, New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. In addition to her extensive and varied experience in ministry, Shelly also pursued a nearly twenty-year career working in bookstores and book publishing. Rev. Davis is also serving our larger community as President of the Lower Bucks Center for Church and Community. This ecumenical ministry works to bring Christians and congregations together across denominational, social, racial and economic lines to promote Christian unity, greater understanding among faiths, social justice, and ministry to all God’s people.
