Church and CommunityUnited Christian Church provides a meeting place for a number of service-oriented and community-oriented organizations. Almost every day of the week there are activities and meetings, including those listed below. Our church is a busy place!
Code Blue is a county-wide effort to provide shelter for unsheltered individuals during periods of inclement weather when wind chill and precipitation combine to cause the out-side temperature to plummet below 20 degrees Fahrenheit. These conditions present the threat of serious harm and/or death to unsheltered individuals. United Christian Church hosts the Emergency Relief Association (ERA), a separate nonprofit corporation run by a group of dedicated volunteers. The ERA is a food cupboard serving hundreds of meals a week.
The Consumer Club is a social group that welcomes individuals with mental disabilities on Sundays from 3 to 6 p.m. Participants enjoy social opportunities such as games and crafts as well as a meal on Sunday. The Consumer Club is affiliated with NAMI, an organization that is dedicated to the eradication of mental illnesses and to the improvement of the quality of life of all whose lives are affected by these diseases. Established in the spring of 1978 by First Christian Church as The Human Growth Center, The Counseling Center is a private, non-profit counseling center which provides a full range of psychotherapeutic, educational, and consultative services to the people of the greater Bucks County area. Located in Holland, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, it is led by a community-based volunteer board of directors and an interdisciplinary staff of outstanding professionals from a variety of mental health professions. The Counseling Center offers its professional services on a sliding scale/ability-to-pay fee basis. At The Counseling Center, clients are seen not simply as patients, but rather as persons of intrinsic value; human beings involved in an experience of growth toward self-actualization. Alcoholics Anonymous groups meet at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, 7 p.m. on Tuesday and 12 noon. on Friday.
Al-Anon meets Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
Narcotics Anonymous meets at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and 11 p.m. on Saturday. |
